Lovin’ the process

Ya know, there just aren’t enough hours in a day.  There are so many designs whirling around in my head just dying to get out.

I have to say I think this is the most exciting time of my life.  I feel so blessed to have discovered this deep passion for knitting and designing and to have been able to give myself permission to pursue it.  And of course a huge thank you goes out to my grandmother for teaching me to knit.  Thanks GV!

This designing process is pretty cool.  It’s amazing to me how ideas grow.  I’m working on a series of shawls right now.  Well, actually several series.  Those of you who know me, know that I like things to match and coordinate.  Thanks to my mom and grandmothers for that trait.

So I started designing a shawlette (small shawl) out of this yummy soft yarn Malabrigo Finito.  It’s a triangle shawl using two colors.  I loved it so then I thought it would be cool to make a semi-circular one.  A fun sort-of serendipitous thing happened with that one.  For a semi-circular shawl, you usually increase 6 stitches every 4 rows.  I wondered what would happen if you increased 6 stitches ever other row.  Well, you get a bit of a square.  Love it!  It has now been named Serendipity.  Last night I finished the third one, an elongated shallow semi-circle using short rows.  There will be a fourth, which I’ll start here shortly.  The plan is to create an ebook and sell it on Ravelry.  Here is a sneak peak:

Next step to get the patterns written.  I’ll keep you posted.

I’ll tell you about one of the other series in a later post.

Happy knitting!
