Knitters are starting to know my name.
That is both very exciting and at the same time somewhat terrifying. It is very easy for me to remain inside my cozy knitting bubble and not really pay much attention to what is going on outside of the bubble. I’m trying to pay more attention.
We are selling a lot of patterns, which means there are a lot of my designs being knitted – all over the world. One of my favorites is a version of Trace done in Maai knitted by a man in Vienna Austria. Vienna Austria!! Here is his Instagram post. I believe he is swatching for Emboss. 😊😊 Thank you, knitty.knitty, love your work!
And I can’t forget Grammy. Not my Grammy, but Luke, our marketing manager’s Grammy. I think she knits ALL of my designs and sometimes multiple times. I believe her daughters all have a Slope. I just sent her the patterns for our next collection that is releasing this Friday. Thank you, Grammy, for being such a big fan!
People are starting to hashtag my name. That one freaked me out a bit at first. But I’m getting used to it. And it’s usually attached to a design they’ve knitted, which I LOVE seeing. It’s very easy for me to forget that there is a lot of knitting going on out there in world. Keep the hashtags coming. I love to see what you are making. If you would like to follow me on Instagram, my profile is @shellieanderson.
Along with this little bit of notoriety comes a great deal of responsibility. If you are knitting one of my designs, I want you to enjoy it – the entire process – and love the piece you have created. And perhaps learn a new-to-you knitting skill. My ultimate goal is to give you, the knitter, a great design that fits well, is enjoyable to knit and one you will be proud to wear for a long time to come. After all, you’ve spent HOURS knitting the thing.
And then there’s the criticism. That one is hard to take sometimes. There have been a couple of harsh ones out there, which are pretty upsetting. I just remind myself it comes with the territory. But I listen to the criticism and if it’s constructive and I can improve on something, I most certainly will use it. I will never know it all and am constantly learning and honing my craft. That’s one of the things I love the most about knitting.
This is one of the most exciting times of my LIFE and I want to thank you for your support. I am forever grateful and will continue to strive to bring you amazing things to knit with amazing Shibui Knits yarn. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out our beautiful new website.
Well, enough for today. I have a lot of knitting to get to. I hope you enjoy your Sunday and hope you are blessed to have some yarn run through your fingers today.
P.s. Grammy has her patterns locked up in her safe until launch day. 🙂 Bless her heart.
