Meet Siena, our lightweight, airy cardigan created using our two new yarns held together – Lunar and Reed. Siena was a very fun piece to design and to knit. Siena is worked on a US size 10 needle, so it knits up very quickly. A very good reason to knit more than one.
Siena is worked flat from the bottom up in pieces with one strand of Lunar and one strand of Reed held together throughout. You start with the Double German Twisted Cast-On, which means you hold the working yarns double on the tail side of your cast-on, creating a bit of a weighted cast-on to help prevent rolling of the hem edge. Detailed instructions are written in the pattern. To form the dolman sleeves, you first work several increases at the underarm, then cast on for the remaining portion of the sleeves. A rolled Stockinette Stitch edging is picked up and worked along the front and back neck edges.
- Weighted cast on

Siena can easily be dressed up for an evening out, worn as your go-to cardigan in your air-conditioned office, or worn with your favorite casual outfit. I am currently making one in Abyss, because, well, you just have to have one in Abyss. And my next one will be in Imperial because Andrea Hungerford made one and it is gorgeous.
