Today is the launch of my three piece collection created in collaboration with June Cashmere. Needless to say, I am in love with this 100% cashmere yarn. I love knitting with it and the resulting fabric will help you create heirloom quality knitwear. And more than the yarn itself, the story of the yarn, how it is created and the impact it is making, is very important to me. You can read all about it here on their website.
When I started thinking about the three pieces in this collection, I wanted to create pieces that would showcase the beauty of the yarn, showing the beautiful halo present in the stockinette stitch fabric, as well as the incredible stitch definition. I wanted to create pieces that used traditional techniques – garter stitch, slipped stitches and ribbing – in a modern way or shape. Find all the details here.
The WALLOWA pullover is created in June Cashmere Fingering. This yarn creates a beautiful fine-gauge fabric. WALLOWA starts with a vented hem worked flat in 2×1 rib between the wide Garter Ridge panels at the sides. The body is knit in the round from the bottom up in Stockinette Stitch, with the Garter Ridge panels at the sides and modified batwing shaping for the sleeves, with dropped shoulders. Work is divided at the underarm and worked flat to the shoulders. Ribbed Sleeves are picked up and worked in the round down to the cuffs. Collar is worked in 1×1 rib. WALLOWA is meant to be a loose-fitting pullover with approximately 3-6” of positive ease.
The LOSTINE Hat & Wrap are worked in June Cashmere DK. The stitch definition is shown nicely in these pieces, highlighting garter stitch and stockinette sections, separated by slipped stitches.
Stockinette and Garter Stitch alternate in a richly textured beanie, knit in the round from the brim up. Starting with a tubular cast-on and 1 × 1 rib, slipped stitches form a clean edge between the textured wedges and flow seamlessly into the crown shaping.
LOSTINE wrap is knit lengthwise, starting with a tubular cast-on and ending with a tubular bind-off. A checkerboard effect is created by alternating sections of Stockinette Stitch and Garter Stitch lined with slipped stitch columns. A slipped stitch I-cord edging provides a neat finish.
